صيغ المقارنة والتفضيل Comparative & Superlative forms

• نستخدم صيغ المقارنة للمقارنة بين شيئين.
• نستخدم صيغ التفضيل للمقارنة بين شيء ومجموعة أشياء.

متى استخدم القاعدة رقم 1 ومتى استخدم القاعدة رقم 2؟

• استخدم القاعدة رقم 1 عندما تكون الصفة مكونة من مقطع واحدة.
• استخدم القاعدة رقم 2 عندما تكون الصفحة مكونة من مقطعين أو أكثر.

كيف أعرف أن الصفة مكونة من مقطع واحد أو مقطعين؟

من خلال حروف العلة ( a, i, e, o, u) الموجودة في الصفة فإذا كان هناك حرف علة واحدة في الصفة تسمى (صفة ذات مقطع واحد) ونستخدم معها القاعدة رقم 1.

.Ali is taller than me

.My mobile phone is bigger than yours

أما إذا كان هناك حرفي علة منفصلان عن بعضهما في الكلمة تسمى صفة ذات مقطعين فأما نستخدم القاعدة رقم 1 أو 2.

.History is more boring than Geography

.Travelling by car is more dangerous than travelling by plane

قاعدة صيغة التفضيل:

متى استخدم القاعدة رقم 1 ومتى استخدم القاعدة رقم 2؟

• استخدم القاعدة رقم 1 عندما تكون الصفة مكونة من مقطع واحدة.
• استخدم القاعدة رقم 2 عندما تكون الصفحة مكونة من مقطعين او أكثر.

الاختلاف:

استخدم القاعدة أدناه لإظهار الاختلاف بين شيئين.

.My car isn’t as fast as it used to be

.Teachers aren’t as good as they used to be

B. Compare life today with life 50 years ago. Write pairs of sentences using one of the adjectives in brackets each time.

1. life (easy/hard/slow/fast)
Life is faster now than it used to be.
Life isn’t as easy as it used to be.

2. films (funny/boring/violent/romantic)
Film are more violent than they used to be.
Films aren’t as romantic as they used to be.

3. streets (noisy/quiet/clean/dirty/safe/dangerous)
Streets are more dangerous than they used to be.
Streets aren’t as clean as they used to be.

4. towns (big/small/crowded/polluted)
Towns are more crowded than they used to be.
Towns aren’t as polluted as they used to be.

5. doctors (good/expensive/cheap/well-trained)
Doctors are better trained than they used to be.
Doctors aren’t as cheap as they used to be.

Use the correct form of – ‘used to’.

1. She (wear) glasses, but now she has contact lenses.
She used to wear glasses, but now she has contact lenses.

2. He (have) his hair cut at the hairdresser’s but now his wife (cut) it for him.
He used to have his hair cut at the hairdresser’s but now his wife cuts it for him.

3. I (have) a bicycle, but someone (steal) it last week.
I used to have a bicycle, but someone stole it last week.

4. She (not be) so thin, but she got very ill last year and lost a lot of weight.
She didn’t use to be so thin, but she got very ill last year and lost a lot of weight.

5. He (like) going out, but now he always wants to stay at home.
He used to like going out, but now he always wants to stay at home.

6. Cities (not be) polluted.
Cities did not use to be polluted.

7. I (like) travelling, but I don’t like it anymore.
I used to like travelling, but I don’t like it anymore.

8. There (be) a house here, but they (knock) it down two years ago.
There used to be a house here, but they knocked it down two years ago.

9. You / go to work by car?
Did you use to go to work by car?

10. Salwa (eat) meat, but now she (be) a vegetarian.
Salwa used to eat meat, but now she is a vegetarian.

11. She (not/talk) so much, but now she never stops talking.
She did not use to talk so much, but now she never stops talking.

12. Films (be) black and white, but now they are usually in color.
Films used to be black and white, but now they are usually in color.
